WestDental version 2.1.4
WestDental is a full Dental suite, it contains patient records, which includes treatment notes, medical history, patient details, charting, and treatment plan. There is a recall facility to ensure regular visits, and an appointment book. The program can be used over a network, with one computer in the office or reception as a server holding the database files, and the other as a workstation in the surgery. The program is not designed for large multi-surgery practices, it was really written to use in my surgery so is really for a single dentist practice. The networking works fine in the configuration outlined. If you are interested in a better networked version, I've written one using a MySQL database for the back end. This has much improved networking as MySQL handles all the socket work. Contact me if you want this version, a bit of knowledge of SQL language would be useful to set up the database.
The program is freeware so there are no restrictions on use, except the program cannot be used for commercial gain. The program is licensed under the GPL license. Version 2.1.4 was released on 28/12/07. The source code opens in Microsoft Visual C++ 6.
It is important to read the IMPORTANT.txt file before you try to use the source code with Visual C++ 6
I recommend that you use the archive program 7-Zip to extract the zip file. All the bmp files will then be restored into the res folder. Using WinZip will mean you will have to create a folder called 'res' and manually move all .bmp files into it.
